Il danno corticale, sia per trauma che per ictus, interferisce con il flusso dei segnali discendenti verso le strutture interneuronali modulari del midollo spinale. Questi moduli spinali svolgono il normale comportamento motorio attivando gruppi di muscoli come unit\u00e0 individuali (sinergie muscolari). I danni alle aree corticali motorie interrompono l&#8217;orchestrazione dei moduli, causando movimenti anormali. Per ottenere informazioni approfondite su questo processo complesso, abbiamo registrato i segnali mioelettrici da pi\u00f9 muscoli dell&#8217;arto superiore in soggetti con lesioni corticali. \u00c8 stato utilizzato un algoritmo di fattorizzazione per identificare le sinergie muscolari. L&#8217;analisi di fattorizzazione ha rivelato, in modo quantitativo, tre distinti modelli di coordinazione muscolare &#8211; tra cui la conservazione, la fusione e il frazionamento delle sinergie muscolari &#8211; che riflettono le molteplici risposte neuronali che si verificano dopo il danno corticale. Questi pattern variano in funzione sia della gravit\u00e0 del danno funzionale che della distanza temporale dall&#8217;insorgenza dell&#8217;ictus.
